Tuning in the right frequency

Tuning an AM radio station can be a tedious task. There is some much noise in the background that it is difficult to distinguish between distinct stations. There can also be loss of the frequency at times due to weather or other reasons. The most important element factor in receiving good reception is the tuning of the station.

Have you ever felt that a sermon does not speak to you at church?. Why is it that all of a sudden you are not able to pray properly or understand the Word?. You may blame it on the preacher or perhaps your own situations. But the truth is that the problem lies deep within you. You have lost your sensitivity to God’s word. You have lost all reception capabilities. Your mind is preoccupied with so many other things that the Word of God just can’t fit in the big picture .

As believers we also need to have some kind of tuning in our spiritual life. We cannot always hear the clear message of God. It is bound to our sensitivity to His reception. Our sensitivity is defined by our walk with Him. Remember the young boy Samuel who was able to hear the voice of God even as a youth. God can speak to us irrespective of our situations. The question is, Are we sensitive to hear the clear voice of God Or Are we missing His voice in the midst of our own preoccupations?

John 10:27-My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me

Lord give me a heart that is sensitive to hear your voice, to discern your will and that is always tuned in your ways alone.
